href=\"https:\/\/obo.genaud.net\/dhamma-vinaya\/pts\/mn\/backmatter\/appendixes\/personalities\/kumara-kassapo.htm\">Kassapa the Boy<\/a><span class=\"f1\"><sup>[<a id=\"fn1\" href=\"#n1\">1<\/a>]<\/sup><\/span><br\/>was staying in the Blind Men&#8217;s Grove.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"f4\">Then, when the night was far spent<span class=\"f1\"><sup>[<a id=\"fn2\" href=\"#n2\">2<\/a>]<\/sup><\/span><br\/>a certain deva<span class=\"f1\"><sup>[<a id=\"fn3\" href=\"#n3\">3<\/a>]<\/sup><\/span> with a glorious skin,<span class=\"f1\"><sup>[<a id=\"fn4\" href=\"#n4\">4<\/a>]<\/sup><\/span><br\/>having illuminated the whole of the Blind Men&#8217;s Grove,<br\/>approached the venerable Kassapa the Boy;<br\/>and having approached<br\/>stood at one side.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"f4\">While standing at one side<br\/>this deva spoke thus<br\/>to the venerable Kassapa the Boy:<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"f4 in2\"><span class=\"f3\">[<a said:<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"f4\">&#8216;A bolt, revered one.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"f4 in2\">The brahman spoke thus:<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"f4\">&#8216;Take out the questions,<br\/>then you could remember<br\/>as the Lord explains to you.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"f4\">I, monk,<br\/>do not see anyone in the world<br\/>with its devas,<br\/>with its M\u0101ras,<br\/>with its Brahm\u0101s,<br\/>in creation,<br\/>with its recluses and brahmans,<br\/>its devas and men,<br\/>who could turn his mind<br\/>to expounding these questions<br\/>except a Tath\u0101gata<br\/>or a Tath\u0101gata&#8217;s disciple<br\/>or one who has heard (the teaching) from them.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"f4\">Thus spoke that deva;<br\/>and vanished then and night;<br\/>having approached,<br\/>having greeted the Lord,<br\/>he sat down at a respectful distance.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"f4\">As he was sitting down at a respectful distance,<br\/>the venerable Kassapa the Boy<br\/>spoke thus to the Lord:<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"f4\">&#8220;During this night, Lord,<br\/>when the night was far spent,<br\/>a certain deva<br\/>with a glorious skin,<br\/>having illumined the whole of the Blind Men&#8217;s Grove,<br\/>approached me;<br\/>and having approached,<br\/>stood at one side.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"f4\">While standing to one side, Lord,<br\/>that deva spoke thus to me:<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"f4 in2\">&#8216;Monk, monk, this ant-hill smokes by night,<br\/>blazes up by day.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"f4 in2\">A strainer,<br\/>what the tortoise,<br\/>what the slaughterhouse,<br\/>what the piece of flesh,<br\/>what the cobra?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"f4\"><span class=\"f3\">[<a id=\"p6\" the day&#8217;s affairs,<br\/>this is smoking by night.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"f4\">Whatever affairs, monk,<br\/>one sets going by day,<br\/>whether by body,<br\/>speech<br\/>or thought,<br\/>having pondered<br\/>and reflected upon them<br\/>during the night,<br\/>this is blazing up by day.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"f4\">&#8216;Brahman&#8217;,<span class=\"f1\"><sup>[<a id=\"fn11\" href=\"#n11\">11<\/a>]<\/sup><\/span> monk,<br\/>this is a synonym for the Tath\u0101gata,<br\/>perfected one,<br\/>fully self-awakened one.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"f4\">&#8216;Clever
