Ekaṃ samayaṃ Bhagavā Sāvatthīyaṃ viharati Jetavane Anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. Atha kho Mahā-Pajāpatī Gotamī pañca-mattehi bhikkhunīsatehi saddhiṃ yena Bhagavā ten’upasaṅkami, upasaṅkamitvā Bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā eka-m-antaṃ aṭṭhāsi. Eka-m-antaṃ ṭhitā kho Mahā-Pajāpatī Gotamī Bhagavantaṃ etad avoca: ‘ovadatu bhante, Bhagavā bhikkhuniyo, anusāsatu bhante, Bhagavā bhikkhuniyo, karotu bhante, Bhagavā bhikkhunīnaṃ dhammiṃ kathan’ ti. || ||

Tena kho pana samayena therā bhikkhū bhikkhuniyo ovadanti pariyāyena. Āyasmā pana nandako na icchati bhikkhuniyo ovadituṃ pariyāyena. Atha kho Bhagavā āyasmantaṃ Ānandaṃ āmantesi: ‘kassa nu kho Ānanda, ajja pariyāyo bhikkhuniyo ovadituṃ pariyāyenā’ti.|| ||

Nandakassa bhante. Pariyāyo bhikkhuniyo ovadituṃ pariyāyena, ayaṃ bhante, āyasmā nandako na icchati bhikkhuniyo ovadituṃ pariyāyenā’ ti.|| ||

Atha kho Bhagavā āyasamantaṃ nandakaṃ āmantesi: ‘ovada nandaka, bhikkhuniyo. Anusāsa nandaka, bhikkhuniyo, karohi tvaṃ brāhmaṇa. Bhikkhunīnaṃ dhammiṃ kathan’ ti.|| ||

Evaṃ bhantehi kho so [271] āyasmā nandako Bhagavato paṭi-s-sutvā pubbaṇha-samayaṃ nivāsetvā patta-cīvaraṃ ādāya Sāvatthīṃ piṇḍāya pāvisi, Sāvatthīyaṃ piṇḍāya caritvā pacchā-bhattaṃ piṇḍa-pāta-paṭikkanto attadutiyo yena rājakārāmo ten’upasaṅkami. Addasaṃsu2 kho tā bhikkhuniyo āyasmantaṃ nandakaṃ dūrato va āga-c-chantaṃ. Disvāna āsanaṃ paññāpesuṃ, udakañca pādānaṃ upaṭṭhapesuṃ. Nisidi kho āyasmā nandako paññatte āsane, nisajja pāde pakkhālesi. Tāpi kho bhikkhuniyo āyasmantaṃ nandakaṃ abhivādetvā eka-m-antaṃ nisīdiṃsu, eka-m-antaṃ nisinnā kho tā bhikkhuniyo āyasmā nandako etad avoca: paṭipucchakathā kho bhaginiyo, bhavissati. Tattha ājānantīhi ājānāmātissa vacanīyaṃ, na ājānantīhi na ājānāmātissa vacaniyaṃ. Yassā vā panassa kaṅkhā vā vimati vā, ahameva tattha paṭipucchitabbo: ‘idaṃ bhante, kathaṃ imassa kvattho’ ti.|| ||

Ettakena pi mayaṃ bhante, ayyassa nandakassa atta-manā abhiraddhā. Yaṃ no ayyo nandako pavāretī’ ti.|| ||

Taṃ kiṃ maññatha bhaginiyo, cakkhuṃ3 niccaṃ vā aniccaṃ vāti?|| ||

Aniccaṃ bhante.|| ||

Yaṃ pan-ā-niccaṃ dukkhaṃ vā taṃ sukhaṃ vāti.|| ||

No h’etaṃ bhante. Taṃ kissa hetu? pubbe va no h’etaṃ bhante. Yathā-bhūtaṃ samma-p-paññāya su-diṭṭhaṃ: ‘Iti pime cha ajjhattikā āyatanā aniccā’ ti.|| ||

Sādhu sādhu bhaginiyo, evaṃ h’etaṃ bhaginiyo. Hoti ariya-sāvakassa yathā-bhūtaṃ samma-p-paññāya passato. Taṃ kiṃ maññatha bhaginiyo. Rūpā niccā vā aniccā vā’ ti.|| ||

No h’etaṃ bhante. Taṃ kissa hotu: pubbe va no h’etaṃ bhante, yathā-bhūtaṃ samma-p-paññāya su-diṭṭhaṃ: iti pi me cha bāhirā āyatanā aniccā’ ti.|| ||

Sādhu sādhu bhaginiyo, evaṃ h’etaṃ bhaginiyo. Hoti ariya-sāvakassa yathā-bhūtaṃ samma-p-paññāya passato. Taṃ kiṃ maññatha bhaginiyo, cakkhu-viññāṇaṃ niccaṃ vā aniccaṃ vāti.|| ||

No h’etaṃ bhante. Taṃ kissa hetu? pubbe va no h’etaṃ bhante, yathā-bhūtaṃ samma-p-paññāya su-diṭṭhaṃ: iti pi me cha viññāṇa-kāyā aniccā’ ti.|| ||

Sādhu sādhu bhaginiyo, evaṃ h’etaṃ bhaginiyo, hoti ariya-sāvakassa yathā-bhūtaṃ samma-p-paññāya passato.|| ||

Seyyathāpī bhaginiyo. Telappadīpassa jhāyato telampi aniccaṃ vipariṇāma-dhammaṃ, vaṭṭipi aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā, accipi aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā, ābhāpi aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā. Yo nu kho bhaginiyo evaṃ vadeyya. ‘Amussa tela-p-padīpassa jhāyato telampi aniccaṃ vipariṇāma-dhammaṃ, vaṭṭipi aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā. Accipi aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā, yā khvāssa ābhā, sā niccā dhuvā sassatā avipariṇāma-dhammā’ ti. Sammā nu kho so bhaginiyo, vadamāno vadeyyāti.|| ||

N’esā h’etaṃ bhante. Taṃ kissa hetu? amussa hi bhante, tela-p-padīpassa jhāyato telampi aniccaṃ vipariṇāma-dhammaṃ, vaṭṭipi aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā, accipi aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā, pagev’assa ābhā aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā’ ti.|| ||

Evam eva kho bhaginiyo, yo nu kho evaṃ vadeyya, cha hi kho imā ajjhattikā āyatanā aniccā, yañ ca kho cha ajjhattike āyatane paṭicca paṭisaṃvedeti sukhaṃ vā dukakhaṃ vā adukkha-m-asukhaṃ vā, taṃ niccaṃ dhuvaṃ sassataṃ avipariṇāma-dhammanti. Sammā1 nu kho so bhaginiyo, vadamāno vadeyyā’ ti.|| ||

No h’etaṃ bhante. Taṃ kissa hetu? ‘tajjaṃ tajjaṃ bhante. Paccayā paṭicca tajjā tajjā vedanā uppajjanti. [274] tajjassa tajjassa paccayassa nirodhā tajjā tajjā vedanā nirujjhantī’ ti.|| ||

Sādhu sādhu bhaginiyo, evaṃ h’etaṃ bhaginiyo, hoti ariya-sāvakassa yathā-bhūtaṃ samma-p-paññāya passato.|| ||

Seyyathāpī bhaginiyo, mahato rukkhassa tiṭṭhato sāravato mūlampi aniccaṃ vipariṇāma-dhammaṃ, khandhopi anicco vipariṇāma-dhammo, sākhāpalāsampi aniccaṃ vipariṇāma-dhammaṃ, chāyāpi aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā. Yo nu kho bhaginiyo, evaṃ vadeyya: ‘amussa mahato rukkhassa tiṭṭhato sāravato mūlampi aniccaṃ vipariṇāma-dhammaṃ, khandhopi anicco vipariṇāma-dhammo, sākhāpalāsampi aniccaṃ vipariṇāma-dhammaṃ, yā ca khvāssa chāyā sā niccā dhuvā sassatā avipariṇāma-dhammā’ ti. Sammā nu kho so bhaginiyo, vadamāno vadeyyā’ ti.|| ||

No h’etaṃ bhante. Taṃ kissa hetu? ‘amussa hi bhante, mahato rukkhassa tiṭṭhato sāravato mūlampi aniccaṃ vipariṇāma-dhammaṃ, khandhopi anicco vipariṇāma-dhammo, sākhāpalāsampi aniccaṃ vipariṇāma-dhammaṃ, pagev’assa chāyā aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā’ ti. || ||

Evam eva kho bhaginiyo, yo nu kho evaṃ vadeyya: cha kho me bāhirā āyatanā aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā. Yañ ca kho cha bāhire āyatane paṭicca paṭisaṃvedemi sukhaṃ vā dukkhaṃ vā adukkha-m-asukhaṃ vā, taṃ niccaṃ dhuvaṃ sassataṃ avipariṇāma-dhammanti, sammā nu kho so bhaginiye, vadamāno vadeyyā’ ti.|| ||

No h’etaṃ bhante. Taṃ kissa hetu? tajjaṃ tajjaṃ bhante. Paccayaṃ paṭicca tajjā tajjā vedanā nirujjhantī’ ti.|| ||

Sādhu sādhu bhaginiyo, evaṃ h’etaṃ bhaginiyo, hoti ariya-sāvakassa yathā-bhūtaṃ samma-p-paññāya passato.|| ||

Seyyathā pi bhaginiyo, dakkho go-ghātako vā go-ghātakantevāsī vā gāviṃ vadhitvā tiṇhena. Govikantanena gāviṃ vikanteyya,1 anupahacca antaraṃ maṃsakāya, anupahacca bāhiraṃ cammakāyaṃ, yaṃ yad eva tattha antarā vilīmaṃsaṃ, antarā nahārū, antarā bandhanaṃ, taṃ tad eva tiṇhena [275] govikantanena sañchindeyya saṅkanteyya sampakanteyya. Samparikanteyya. Sañchinditvā, saṅkantitvā samparikantitvā vidhunitvā bāhiraṃ cammakāyaṃ ten’eva cammena taṃ gāviṃ paṭicchādetvā evaṃ vadeyya: ‘tathevāyaṃ gāvī saṃyuttā imināva cammenā’ ti. Sammā nu kho so bhaginiyo, vadamāno vadeyyā’ ti.|| ||

No h’etaṃ bhante. Taṃ kissa hetu? amu hi bhante, dakkho go-ghātako vā go-ghātakantevāsī vā gāviṃ vadhitvā tiṇhena govikantanena gāviṃ saṅkanteyya anupahacca antaraṃ maṃsakāyaṃ. Anupahacca bāhiraṃ cammakāyaṃ, yaṃ yad eva tattha antarā vilīmaṃsaṃ, antarā nahārū, antarā bandhanaṃ, taṃ tad eva tiṇhena govikantanena sañchindeyya, saṅkanteyya, sampakanteyya, samparikanteyya. Sañchinditvā saṅkantitvā samparikantitvā vidhunitvā bāhiraṃ cammakāyaṃ ten’eva cammena taṃ gāviṃ paṭicchādetvā kiñ cāpi so evaṃ vadeyya: ‘tathevāyaṃ gāvī saṃyuttā imināva cammenā’ ti. Atha kho sā gāvī visaṃyuttā ten’eva cammenā’ ti.|| ||

Upamā kho me ayaṃ bhaginiyo, katā atthassa viññāpanāya. Ayamevettha attho: ‘antarā maṃsakāyoti kho bhaginiyo chann’etaṃ ajjhattikānaṃ āyatanānaṃ adhivacanaṃ. Bāhiro cammakāyoti kho bhaginiyo, chann’etaṃ bāhirānaṃ āyatanānaṃ adhivacanaṃ. Antarā vilīmaṃsaṃ antarā nahārū antarā bandhananti kho bhaginiyo, nandi-rāgassetaṃ adhivacanaṃ. Tiṇhaṃ govikantananti kho bhaginiyo, ariyāyetaṃ paññāya adhivacanaṃ yā’yaṃ ariyā paññā antarā kilesaṃ antarā saṃyojanaṃ antarā bandhanaṃ sañchindati saṅkantati sampakantati samparikantati.|| ||

Satta kho ime bhaginiyo, bojjh’aṅgā yesaṃ bhāvitattā bahulī-katattā bhikkhu āsavanaṃ khayā anāsavaṃ ceto-vimuttiṃ paññā-vimuttiṃ diṭṭhe’va dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchi-katvā upasampajja viharati. Katame satta? idha bhaginiyo, bhikkhu sati-sambojjh’aṅgaṃ bhāveti viveka-nissitaṃ virāga-nissitaṃ nirodha-nissitaṃ vossagga-pariṇāmiṃ, dhamma-vicaya-sambojjh’aṅgaṃ bhāveti viveka-nissitaṃ virāga-nissitaṃ nirodha-nissitaṃ vossagga-pariṇāmiṃ, viriya-sambojjh’aṅgaṃ bhāveti viveka-nissitaṃ virāga-nissitaṃ nirodha-nissitaṃ vossagga-pariṇāmiṃ, pīti-sambojjh’aṅgaṃ bhāveti viveka-nissitaṃ virāga-nissitaṃ nirodha-nissitaṃ vossagga-pariṇāmiṃ, passaddhi-sambojjh’aṅgaṃ bhāveti viveka-nissitaṃ virāga-nissitaṃ nirodha-nissitaṃ vossagga-pariṇāmiṃ, samādhi-sambojjh’aṅgaṃ bhāveti viveka-nissitaṃ virāga-nissitaṃ nirodha-nissitaṃ vossagga-pariṇāmiṃ, upekkhā-sambojjh’aṅgaṃ bhāveti viveka-nissitaṃ virāga-nissitaṃ nirodha-nissitaṃ vossagga-pariṇāmiṃ. Ime kho bhaginiyo, satta bojjh’aṅgā: yesaṃ bhāvitattā bahulī-katattā bhikkhu āsavānaṃ khayā anāsavaṃ ceto-vimuttiṃ paññā-vimuttiṃ diṭṭhe’va dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchi-katvā upasampajja viharatī’ti|| ||

[276] Atha kho āyasmā nandako tā bhikkhuniyo iminā ovādena ovaditvā uyyojesi: ‘gacchatha bhaginiyo, kālo’ti|| ||

Atha kho tā bhikkhuniyo āyasmato nandakassa bhāsitaṃ abhinan’ditvā anumo-ditvā uṭṭhāy āsanā āyasmantaṃ nandakaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhīṇaṃ katvā yena Bhagavā, ten’upasaṅkamiṃsu. Upasaṅkamitvā Bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā eka-m-antaṃ aṭṭhaṃsu. Eka-m-antaṃ ṭhitā kho tā bhikkhuniyo Bhagavā etad avoca: ‘gacchatha bhikkhuniyo kālo’ ti.|| ||

Atha kho tā bhikkhuniyo Bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhīṇaṃ katvā pakkamiṃsu.|| ||

Atha kho Bhagavā acira-pakkantīsu tāsu bhikkhunīsu bhikkhū āmantesi: ‘seyyathā pi bhikkhave, tadah’uposathe cātuddase na hoti bahuno janassa kaṅkhā vā vimati vā: ‘ūno nu kho cando, puṇṇo nu kho cando’ ti. Atha kho ūno cando tv’eva hoti. Evam eva kho bhikkhave, tā bhikkhuniyo nandakassa Dhamma-desanāya atta-manā c’eva honti, no ca kho paripuṇṇa saṅkappā‘ ti.|| ||

Atha kho Bhagavā āyasmantaṃ nandakaṃ āmantesi: ‘tena hi tvaṃ nandaka, sevpi tā bhikkhuniyo tenevovādena ovadeyyāsīti. Evaṃ bhante’ ti kho āyasmā nandako Bhagavato paccassosi.|| ||

Atha kho āyasmā nandako tassā rattiyā accayena pubbaṇha samayaṃ nivāsetvā patta-cīvaraṃ ādāya Sāvatthīṃ piṇḍāya pāvisi. Sāvatthiyaṃ piṇḍāya caritvā pacchā-bhattaṃ piṇḍa-pāta-paṭikkanto attadutiyo yena rājakārāmo ten’upasaṅkami. Addasaṃsu kho tā bhikkhuniyo āyasmantaṃ nandakaṃ dūratoca āga-c-chantaṃ, disvāna āsanaṃ paññāpesuṃ udakañca pādānaṃ upaṭṭhapesuṃ. Nisīdi kho āyasmā nandako paññatte āsane, nisajja pāde pakkhālesi. Tāpi kho bhikkhuniyo āyasmantaṃ nandakaṃ abhivādetvā eka-m-antaṃ nisīdiṃsu. Eka-m-antaṃ nisinnā kho tā bhikkhuniyo āyasmā nandako etad avoca: ‘paṭipucchakathā kho bhaginiyo, bhavissati. Tattha ājānantīhi ājānāmātissa vacanīyaṃ. Na ājānantīhi na ājānāmātissa vacanīyaṃ. Yassā vā panassa kaṅkhā vā vimati vā, ahameva tattha [277] paṭipucchitabbo: ‘idaṃ bhante kathaṃ imassa kvattho’ ti.|| ||

Ettakena pi mayaṃ bhante, ayyassa nandakassa atta-manā abhiraddhā, yaṃ no ayyo nandako pavāretī’ ti.|| ||

Sādhu sādhu bhaginiyo, evaṃ h’etaṃ bhaginiyo, hoti ariya-sāvakassa yathā-bhūtaṃ samma-p-paññāya passato. Taṃ kiṃ maññatha bhaginiyo, rūpā niccā vā aniccā vāti.|| ||

Yo nu kho, bhaginiyo, evaṃ vadeyya: ‘amussa tela-p-padīpassa jhāyato telampi aniccaṃ vipariṇāma-dhammaṃ, vaṭṭipi aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā, accipi aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā, yā ca khvāssa ābhā sā niccā dhuvā sassatā avipariṇāma-dhammā’ ti. Sammā nu kho so bhaginiyo, vadamāno vadeyyāti.|| ||

No h’etaṃ bhante, taṃ kissa hetu: ‘amussa hi bhante, tela-p-padīpassa jhāyato telampi aniccaṃ vipariṇāma-dhammaṃ, vaṭṭipi aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā, accipi aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā, pagev’assa ābhā aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā’tī.|| ||

Eva meva kho bhaginiyo, yo nu kho evaṃ vadeyya: ‘cha kho me ajjhattikā āyatanā aniccā, yañ ca kho cha ajjhattike āyatane paṭicca paṭisaṃvedemi sukhaṃ vā dukkhaṃ vā adukkha-m-asukhaṃ vā. Taṃ niccaṃ dhuvaṃ sassataṃ avipariṇāma-dhamman’ ti. Sammā nu kho so bhaginiyo, vadamāno vadeyyā’ ti.|| ||

No h’etaṃ bhante. Taṃ kissa hetu? ‘tajjaṃ tajjaṃ bhante, paccayaṃ paṭicca tajjā tajjā vedanā uppajjanti. Tajjassa tajjassa paccayassa nirodhā tajjā tajjā vedanā nirujjhantī’ti|| ||

Sādhu sādhu bhaginiyo, evaṃ h’etaṃ bhaginiyo, hoti ariya-sāvakassa yathā-bhūtaṃ samma-p-paññāya passato.|| ||

Seyyathā pi bhaginiyo, mahato rukkhassa tiṭṭhato sāravato mūlampi aniccaṃ vipariṇāma-dhammaṃ, khandhopi anicco vipariṇāma-dhammo, sākhāpalāsampi aniccaṃ vipariṇāma-dhammaṃ, chāyāpi aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā. Yo nu kho bhaginiyo, evaṃ vadeyya: ‘amussa mahato rukkhassa tiṭṭhato sāravato mūlampi aniccaṃ vipariṇāma-dhammaṃ, khandhopi anicco vipariṇāma-dhammo, sākhāpalāsampi aniccaṃ vipariṇāma-dhammaṃ, yā ca khvāssa chāyā sā niccā dhuvā sassatā avipariṇāma-dhammo’ ti. ‘Sammā nu kho so bhaginiyo, vadamāno vadeyyā’ ti.|| ||

No h’etaṃ bhante. Taṃ kissa hetu? ‘amussa hi bhante mahato rukkhassa tiṭṭhato sāravato mūlampi aniccaṃ vipariṇāma-dhammaṃ, khandhopi anicco vipariṇāma-dhammo, sākhāpalāsampi aniccaṃ vipariṇāma-dhammaṃ, pagev’assa chāyā aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā’ ti. || ||

Evam eva kho bhaginiyo, yo nu kho evaṃ vadeyya: ‘cha kho me bāhirā āyatanā aniccā vipariṇāma-dhammā, yañ ca kho cha bāhire āyatane paṭicca paṭisaṃvedeti sukhaṃ vā dukkhaṃ vā adukkha-m-asukhaṃ vā, taṃ niccaṃ dhuvaṃ sassataṃ avipariṇāma-dhamman’ ti. Seyyathā pi bhaginiyo, dakkho go-ghātako vā go-ghātakantevāsī vā gāviṃ vadhitvā tiṇhena govikantanena gāviṃ vikanteyya, anupahacca antaraṃ maṃsakāyaṃ, anupahacca bāhiraṃ cammakāyaṃ, yaṃ yad eva tattha antarā vilīmaṃsaṃ, antarā nahārū, antarā bandhanaṃ, taṃ tad eva tiṇhena govikantanena sañchindeyya saṅkanteyya sampakanteyya samparikanteyya, sañchinditvā saṅkantitvā sampakantitvā samparikantitvā vidhunitvā bāhiraṃ cammakāyaṃ, ten’eva cammena taṃ gāviṃ paṭicchādetvā evaṃ vadeyya: ‘tathevāyaṃ gāvī saṃyuttā iminā cammenā’ ti. ‘Sammā nu kho so bhaginiyo, vadamāno vadeyyā’ ti.|| ||

No h’etaṃ bhante, taṃ kissa hetu. ‘Asu hi bhante dakkho go-ghātako vā go-ghātakantevāsī vā gāviṃ vadhitvā tiṇhena govikantanena gāviṃ vikanteyya, anupahacca antaraṃ maṃsakāyaṃ, anupahacca bāhiraṃ cammakāyaṃ, yaṃ yad eva tattha antarā vilīmaṃsaṃ, antarā nahārū, antarā bandhanaṃ, taṃ tad eva tiṇhena govikantanena sañchindeyya saṅkanteyya sampakanteyya samparikanteyya, sañchinditvā saṅkantitvā sampakantitvā samparikantitvā vidhunitvā bāhiraṃ cammakāyaṃ ten’eva cammena taṃ gāviṃ paṭicchādetvā kiñ cāpi so evaṃ vadeyya: ‘tathevāyaṃ gāvī saṃyuttā iminā cammenā’ ti. Atha kho sā gāvī visaṃyuttā ten’eva cammenā’ ti.|| ||

Upamā kho me ayaṃ bhaginiyo, katā atthassa viññāpanāya. Ayamevettha attho: ‘antarā maṃsakāyoti kho bhaginiyo, chann’etaṃ ajjhattikānaṃ āyatanānaṃ adhivacanaṃ. Bāhiro cammakāyoti kho bhaginiyo, chann’etaṃ bāhirānaṃ āyatanānaṃ adhivacanaṃ. Antarā vilīmaṃsaṃ antarā nahārū antarā bandhananti kho bhaginiyo, nandi-rāgassetaṃ adhivacanaṃ. Tiṇhaṃ govikantanti kho bhaginiyo, ariyāyetaṃ paññāya adhivacanaṃ, yā’yaṃ ariyā paññā antarā kilesaṃ antarā saṃyojanaṃ antarā bandhanaṃ sañchindati saṅkantati sampakantati samparikantati.|| ||

Satta kho panime bhaginiyo, bojjh’aṅgā yesaṃ bhāvitattā bahulī-katattā bhikkhu āsavānaṃ khayā anāsavaṃ ceto-vimuttiṃ paññā-vimuttiṃ diṭṭhe’va dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchi-katvā upasampajja viharati katame satta: idha bhaginiyo, bhikkhu sati-sambojjh’aṅgaṃ bhāveti viveka-nissitaṃ virāga-nissitaṃ nirodha-nissitaṃ vossagga-pariṇāmiṃ.|| ||

Dhammavijayasambojjh’aṅgaṃ bhāveti viveka-nissitaṃ virāga-nissitaṃ nirodha-nissitaṃ vossagga-pariṇāmiṃ.|| ||

Viriya-sambojjh’aṅgaṃ bhāveti viveka-nissitaṃ virāga-nissitaṃ nirodha-nissitaṃ vossagga-pariṇāmiṃ.|| ||

Pīti-sambojjh’aṅgaṃ bhāveti viveka-nissitaṃ virāga-nissitaṃ nirodha-nissitaṃ vossagga-pariṇāmiṃ.|| ||

Passaddhi-sambojjh’aṅgaṃ bhāveti viveka-nissitaṃ virāga-nissitaṃ nirodha-nissitaṃ vossagga-pariṇāmiṃ.|| ||

Samādhi-sambojjh’aṅgaṃ bhāveti viveka-nissitaṃ virāga-nissitaṃ nirodha-nissitaṃ vossagga-pariṇāmiṃ.|| ||

Upekkhā-sambojjh’aṅgaṃ bhāveti viveka-nissitaṃ virāga-nissitaṃ nirodha-nissitaṃ vossagga-pariṇāmiṃ.|| ||

Ime kho bhaginiyo satta bojjh’aṅgo yesaṃ bhāvitattā bahulī-katattā bhikkhū āsavānaṃ khayā anāsavaṃ ceto vimuttiṃ paññā-vimuttiṃ diṭṭhe’va dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchi-katvā upasampajja viharatī’ ti.|| ||

Atha kho āyasmā nandako tā bhikkhuniyo iminā ovādena ovaditvā uyyojesi: ‘gacchatha bhaginiyo, kālo’ ti.|| ||

Atha kho tā bhikkhuniyo āyasmato nandakassa bhāsitaṃ abhinan’ditvā anumo-ditvā uṭṭhāy āsanā āyasmantaṃ nandakaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā yena Bhagavā. Ten’upasaṅkamiṃsu. Upasaṅkamitvā Bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā eka-m-antaṃ aṭṭhaṃsu. Eka-m-antaṃ ṭhitā kho tā bhikkhuniyo Bhagavā etad avoca: ‘gacchatha bhikkhuniyo, kālo’ ti.|| ||

Atha kho tā bhikkhuniyo Bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā pakkamiṃsu. Atha kho Bhagavā acira-pakkantīsu tāsu bhikkhunīsu bhikkhū āmantesi: ‘seyyathā pi bhikkhave, tadah’uposathe paṇṇarase na hoti bahuno janassa kaṅkhā vā vimati vā: ūno nu kho cando puṇṇo nu kho cando’ti, atha kho puṇṇo candotv’eva hoti. Evam eva kho bhikkhave, tā bhikkhuniyo nandakassa Dhamma-desanāya atta-manā c’eva paripuṇṇa-saṅkappā ca. Tāsaṃ bhikkhave, pañcannaṃ bhikkhunīsatānaṃ yā pacchimā1 bhikkhunī, sā Sot’āpannā avinipāta-dhammā niyatā sambodhi-parāyaṇāti.|| ||

Idam avoca Bhagavā. Attamanā te bhikkhū Bhagavato bhāsitaṃ ‘abhinandun’ ti.|| ||
