Ekaṃ samayaṃ Bhagavā Sāvatthīyaṃ viharati Jetavane Anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme.|| ||

Tatra kho āyasmā Sāriputto bhikkhū āmantesi:|| ||

“Āvuso bhikkhavo” ti.|| ||

“Āvuso” ti kho te bhikkhū āyasmato Sāriputtassa paccassosuṃ.|| ||

Āyasmā Sāriputto etad avoca:|| ||

2. “Seyyathā pi āvuso yāni kānici jaṅgamānaṃ pāṇānaṃ pada-jātāni sabbāni tāni hatthi-pade samodhānaṃ gacchanti,||
hatthi-padaṃ tesaṃ aggam akkhāyati yad idaṃ mahattanena.|| ||

Evam eva kho āvuso ye keci kusalā dhammā sabbe te catusu ariya-saccesu saṅgahaṃ gacchanti.|| ||

Katamesu catusu?|| ||

Dukkhe [185] ariya-sacce,||
dukkha-samudaye ariya-sacce,||
dukkha-nirodhe ariya-sacce,||
dukkha-nirodha-gāminiyā paṭipadāya ariya-sacce.|| ||

3. Katamañ c’āvuso dukkhaṃ ariyaccaṃ?|| ||

Jāti pi dukkhā,||
jarā pi dukkhā,||
maraṇam pi dukkhaṃ,||
soka-parideva-dukkha-domanass’upāyāsā pi dukkhā,||
yam p’icchaṃ na labhati tam pi dukkhaṃ,||
saṅkhittena pañc’upādāna-k-khandhā dukkhā.|| ||

4. Katame c’āvuso pañc’upādāna-k-khandho?|| ||

Seyyath’īdaṃ rūp’ūpādāna-k-khandho||
vedan’ūpādāna-k-khandho||
saññ’ūpādāna-k-khandho||
saṅkhār’ūpādāna-k-khandho||
viññāṇ’ūpādāna-k-khandho.|| ||

5. Katamo c’āvuso rūp’ūpādāna-k-khandho?|| ||

Cattārī ca mahā-bhūtāni catunnañ ca mahā-bhūtānaṃ upādāya rūpaṃ.|| ||

Katame c’āvuso cattāro mahā-bhūtā?|| ||

‘Taṃ:|| ||

‘N’etaṃ mama,||
n’eso’ham-asmi,||
na meso attā’ ti.|| ||

Evam etaṃ yathā-bhūtaṃ samma-p-paññāya daṭṭhabbaṃ.|| ||

Evam etaṃ yathā-bhūtaṃ samma-p-paññāya disvā paṭhavī-dhātuyā nibbindati,||
paṭhavī-dhātuyā cittaṃ virājeti.|| ||

7. Hoti kho so āvuso samayo yaṃ bāhirā āpo-dhātu pakuppati,||
antara-hitā tasmiṃ samaye bāhirā paṭhavī-dhātu hoti.|| ||

Tassā hi nāma āvuso bāhirāya paṭhavī-dhātuyā tāva mahallikāya aniccatā paññāyissati,||
khaya-dhammatā paññāyissati,||
vaya-dhammatā paññāyissati,||
vipariṇāma-dhammatā paññāyissati.|| ||

Kim pan’imassa mattaṭṭhakassa kāyassa taṇah’ūpādinnassa||
‘ahan’ ti vā,||
‘maman’ ti vā,||
‘asmī’ ti vā||
atha khvassa no t’ev’ettha hoti.|| ||

8. Tañ-ce āvuso bhikkhuṃ pare akkosanti paribhāsanti rosenti vihesenti,||
so evaṃ pajānāti:|| ||

‘Uppannā kho me ayaṃ sota-samphassajā dukkhā vedanā||
sā ca kho paṭicca no appaṭicca.|| ||

Kiṃ paṭicca?|| ||

[186] Phassaṃ paṭicca.|| ||

So: ‘phasso anicco’ ti passati,||
‘vedanā aniccā’ ti passati,||
‘saññā aniccā’ ti passati,||
‘saṅkhārā aniccā’ ti passati,||
‘viññāṇaṃ aniccan’ ti passati.|| ||

Tassa dhātārammaṇam-eva cittaṃ pakkhandati pasīdati santiṭṭhati adhimuccati.|| ||

9. Tañ ce āvuso bhikkhuṃ pare aniṭṭhehi akantehi amanāpehi samud’ācaranti,||
pāṇi-samphassena pi,||
leḍḍu-samphassena pi,||
daṇḍa-samphassena pi,||
sattha-samphassena pi,||
so evaṃ pajānāti:|| ||

‘Tathābhūto kho ayaṃ kāyo||
yathā-bhūtasmiṃ kāye pāṇi-samphassā pi kamanti,||
leḍḍu-samphassā pi kamanti,||
daṇḍa-samphassā pi kamanti,||
sattha-samphassā pi kamanti.|| ||

Vuttaṃ kho pan’etaṃ Bhagavatā Kakacūpamovāde:|| ||

‘Ubhato-daṇḍakena ce pi bhikkhave kakacena corā ocarakā aṅgamaṅgāni okanteyyuṃ,||
tatrā pi yo mano padoseyya na me so tena sāsanakaro’ ti.|| ||

Āraddhaṃ kho pana me viriyaṃ bhavissati asallīnaṃ,||
upaṭṭhitā sati apammuṭṭhā,||
passaddho kāyo asāraddho,||
samāhitaṃ cittaṃ ek’aggaṃ.|| ||

Kāmaṃ dāni imasmiṃ kāye pāṇi-samphassā pi kamantu,||
leḍḍu-samphassā pi kamantu,||
daṇḍa-samphassā pi kamantu,||
sattha-samphassā pi kamantu||
karīyati h’idaṃ Buddhānaṃ sāsanan’ ti.|| ||

10. Tassa ce āvuso bhikkhuno evaṃ Buddhaṃ anussarato||
evaṃ dhammaṃ anussarato||
evaṃ Saṅghaṃ anussarato||
upekkhā kusalanissitā na saṇṭhāti.|| ||

So tena saṃvijjati,||
saṃvegaṃ āpajjati:|| ||

‘Alābhā vata me,||
na vata me lābhā,||
dulladdhaṃ vata me,||
na vata me su-laddhaṃ,||
yassa me evaṃ Buddhaṃ anussarato||
evaṃ dhammaṃ anussarato||
evaṃ Saṅghaṃ anussarato||
upekkhā kusalanissitā na saṇṭhātī’ ti.|| ||

11. Seyyathā pi āvuso suṇisā sAsuraṃ disvā saṃvijjati saṃvegaṃ āpajjati,||
evam eva kho āvuso tassa ce bhikkhuno||
evaṃ Buddhaṃ anussarato||
evaṃ dhammaṃ anussarato||
evaṃ Saṅghaṃ anussarato||
upekkhā kusalanissitā na saṇṭhāti,||
so tena saṃvijjati,||
saṃvegaṃ āpajjati:|| ||

‘Alābhā vata me,||
na vata me lābhā,||
dulladdhaṃ vata me,||
na vata me su-laddhaṃ,||
yassa me evaṃ Buddhaṃ anussarato||
evaṃ dhammaṃ anussarato||
evaṃ Saṅghaṃ anussarato||
upekkhā kusalanissitā na saṇṭhātī’ ti.|| ||

12. Tassa ce āvuso bhikkhuno evaṃ Buddhaṃ anussarato||
evaṃ dhammaṃ anussarato||
evaṃ Saṅghaṃ anussarato||
upekkhā kusalanissitā saṇṭhāti,||
so tena [187] atta-mano hoti.|| ||

Ettāvatā pi kho āvuso bhikkhuno bahu-kataṃ hoti.|| ||

13. Katamā c’āvuso āpo-dhātu?|| ||

Āpo-dhātu siyā ajjhattikā||
siyā bāhirā.|| ||

Katamā c’āvuso ajjhattikā āpo-dhātu?|| ||

Yaṃ ajjhattaṃ paccattaṃ āpo||
āpogataṃ||
upādinnaṃ:||
seyyath’īdaṃ:||
pittaṃ,||
semhaṃ,||
pubbo,||
lohitaṃ,||
sedo,||
medo,||
assu,||
vasā,||
kheḷo||
siṅghāṇikā||
lasikā||
muttaṃ,||
yaṃ vā pan’aññam pi kiñci ajjhattaṃ paccattaṃ āpo||
āpogataṃ||
upādinnaṃ -||
ayaṃ vuccat’āvuso ajjhattikā āpo-dhātu.|| ||

Yā c’eva kho pana ajjhattikā āpo-dhātu||
yā ca bāhirā āpo-dhātu āpo-dhātur’ev’esā.|| ||

Taṃ:|| ||

‘N’etaṃ mama,||
n’eso’ham-asmi,||
na meso attā’ ti||
evam etaṃ yathā-bhūtaṃ samma-p-paññāya daṭṭhabbaṃ.|| ||

Evam etaṃ yathā-bhūtaṃ samma-p-paññāya disvā āpo-dhātuyā nibbindati,||

14. Hoti kho so āvuso samayo yaṃ bāhirā āpo-dhātu pakuppati.|| ||

Sā gāmam pi vahati,||
nigamam pi vahati,||
nagaram pi vahati,||
jana-padam pi vahati,||
jana-pada-padesam pi vahati.|| ||

Hoti kho so āvuso samayo yaṃ mahā-samudde||
yojana-satikāni pi udakāni ogacchanti,||
dvi-yojana-satikāni pi udakāni ogacchanti,||
ti-yojana-satikāni pi udakāni ogacchanti,||
catu-yojana-satikāni pi udakāni ogacchanti,||
pañca-yojana-satikāni pi udakāni ogacchanti,||
cha-yojana-satikāni pi udakāni ogacchanti,||
satta-yojana-satikāni pi udakāni ogacchanti.|| ||

Hoti kho so āvuso samayo yaṃ mahā-samudde||
satta-tālam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti,||
cha-tālam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti,||
pañca-tālam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti,||
catu-tālam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti,||
ti-tālam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti,||
dvi-tālam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti,||
tālam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti.|| ||

Hoti kho so āvuso samayo yaṃ mahā-samudde||
satta-porisam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti,||
cha-porisam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti,||
pañca-porisam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti,||
catu-porisam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti,||
ti-porisam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti,||
dvi-porisam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti,||
porisam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti.|| ||

Hoti kho so āvuso samayo yaṃ mahā-samudde||
addha-porisam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti,||
kaṭi-mattam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti,||
jaṇṇu-mattam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti,||
gopphaka-mattam pi udakaṃ saṇṭhāti.|| ||

Hoti kho so āvuso samayo yaṃ mahā-samudde||
aṅguli-pabbate-mana-mattam pi udakaṃ na hoti.|| ||

Tassā hi nāma āvuso bāhirāya āpo-dhātuyā tāva mahallikāya [188] aniccatā paññāyissati,||
khaya-dhammatā paññāyissati,||
vaya-dhammatā paññāyissati,||
vipariṇāma-dhammatā paññāyissati.|| ||

16. Katamā c’āvuso tejo-dhātu?|| ||

Tejo-dhātu siyā ajjhattikā||
siyā bāhirā.|| ||

Katamā c’āvuso ajjhattikā tejo-dhātu?|| ||

Yaṃ ajjhattaṃ paccattaṃ tejo||
tejogataṃ||
upādinnaṃ -||
seyyath’īdaṃ:||
yena ca santappati,||
yena ca jarīyati,||
yena ca pariḍayhati,||
yena ca asita-pīta-khāyitasāyitaṃ sammā pariṇāmaṃ gacchati,||
yaṃ vā pan’aññam pi kiñci ajjhattaṃ paccattaṃ tejo||
tejogataṃ||
upādinnaṃ -||
ayaṃ vuccat’āvuso ajjhattikā tejo-dhātu.|| ||

Yā c’eva kho pana ajjhattikā tejo-dhātu yā ca bāhirā tejo-dhātu tejo-dhātur’ev’esā.|| ||

Taṃ:|| ||

ramaṇīyaṃ vā bhūmi-bhāgaṃ āgamma an-āhārā nibkhāyati.|| ||

Hoti kho so āvuso samayo yaṃ kukkuṭapattena pi nahārudaddulena pi aggiṃ gavesanti.|| ||

Tassā hi nāma āvuso bāhirāya tejo-dhātuyā tāva Mallikāya aniccatā paññāyissati,||
khaya-dhammatā paññāyissati,||
vaya-dhammatā paññāyissati,||
vipariṇāma-dhammatā paññāyissati.|| ||

Yaṃ ajjhattaṃ paccattaṃ vāyo||
vāyogataṃ||
upādinnaṃ -||
seyyath’īdaṃ:||
uddhaṅgamā vātā,||
adhogamā vātā,||
kucchisayā vātā,||
koṭṭhasayā vātā,||
aṅgamaṅgānusārino vātā,||
assāso passāso,||
iti vā,||
yaṃ vā pan’aññam pi kiñci ajjhattaṃ paccattaṃ vāyo vāyogataṃ upādinnaṃ -||
ayaṃ vuccat’āvuso ajjhattikā vāyo-dhātu.|| ||

Yā c’eva kho pana ajjhattikā vāyo-dhātu yā ca bāhirā vāyo-dhātu vāyo-dhātur’ev’esā.|| ||

Taṃ:|| ||

‘N’etaṃ mama,||
n’eso’ham-asmi,||
na meso attā’ ti||
evam etaṃ yathā-bhūtaṃ samma-p-paññāya daṭṭhabbaṃ.|| ||

Evam etaṃ yathā-bhūtaṃ samma-p-paññāya disvā vāyo-dhātuyā nibbindati,||
vāyo-dhātuyā cittaṃ virājeti.|| ||

[189] 20. Hoti kho so āvuso samayo yaṃ bāhirā vāyo-dhātu pakuppati,||
sā gāmam pi vahati,||
nigamam pi vahati,||
nagaram pi vahati,||
jana-padam pi vahati,||
jana-pada-padesam pi vahati.|| ||

Hoti kho so āvuso samayo yaṃ gimhānaṃ pacchime māse tālavaṇṭena pi||
vidhūpanena pi vātaṃ pariyesanti,||
ossāvane pi tiṇāni na icchanti.|| ||

Tassā hi nāma āvuso bāhirāya vāyo-dhātuyā tāva mahallikāya aniccatā paññāyissati,||
khaya-dhammatā paññāyissati,||
vaya-dhammatā paññāyissati,||
vipariṇāma-dhammatā paññāyissati.|| ||

Kim pan’imassa mattaṭṭhakassa kāyassa taṇah’ūpādinnassa||
‘ahan’ ti vā,||
‘maman’ ti vā,||
‘asmī’ ti vā||
atha khvassa no t’ev’ettha hoti.|| ||

21. Tañ-ce āvuso bhikkhuṃ pare akkosanti paribhāsanti rosenti vihesenti,||
so evaṃ pajānāti:|| ||

‘Uppannā kho me ayaṃ sota-samphassajā dukkhā vedanā||
sā ca kho paṭicca no appaṭicca.|| ||

Kiṃ paṭicca?|| ||

Phassaṃ paṭicca.|| ||

So:||
‘phasso anicco’ ti passati,||
‘vedanā aniccā’ ti passati,||
‘saññā aniccā’ ti passati,||
‘saṅkhārā aniccā’ ti passati,||
‘viññāṇaṃ aniccan’ ti passati.|| ||

Tassa dhātārammaṇam-eva cittaṃ pakkhandati pasīdati santiṭṭhati adhimuccati.|| ||

22. Tañ ce āvuso bhikkhuṃ pare aniṭṭhehi akantehi amanāpehi samud’ācaranti,||
pāṇi-samphassena pi,||
leḍḍu-samphassena pi,||
daṇḍa-samphassena pi,||
sattha-samphassena pi,||
so evaṃ pajānāti:|| ||

‘Tathābhūto kho ayaṃ kāyo||
yathā-bhūtasmiṃ kāye pāṇi-samphassā pi kamanti,||
leḍḍu-samphassā pi kamanti,||
daṇḍa-samphassā pi kamanti,||
sattha-samphassā pi kamanti.|| ||

Vuttaṃ kho pan’etaṃ Bhagavatā Kakacūpamovāde:|| ||

‘Ubhato-daṇḍakena ce pi bhikkhave kakacena corā ocarakā aṅgamaṅgāni okanteyyuṃ,||
tatrā pi yo mano padoseyya na me so tena sāsanakaro’ ti.|| ||

Āraddhaṃ kho pana me viriyaṃ bhavissati asallīnaṃ,||
upaṭṭhitā sati apammuṭṭhā,||
passaddho kāyo asāraddho,||
samāhitaṃ cittaṃ ek’aggaṃ.|| ||

Kāmaṃ dāni imasmiṃ kāye pāṇi-samphassā pi kamantu,||
leḍḍu-samphassā pi kamantu,||
daṇḍa-samphassā pi kamantu,||
sattha-samphassā pi kamantu||
karīyati h’idaṃ Buddhānaṃ sāsanan’ ti.|| ||

23. Tassa ce āvuso bhikkhuno evaṃ Buddhaṃ anussarato||
evaṃ dhammaṃ anussarato||
evaṃ Saṅghaṃ anussarato||
upekkhā kusalanissitā na saṇṭhāti.|| ||

So tena saṃvijjati,||
saṃvegaṃ āpajjati:|| ||

‘Alābhā vata me,||
na vata me lābhā,||
dulladdhaṃ vata me,||
na vata me su-laddhaṃ,||
yassa me evaṃ [190] Buddhaṃ anussarato||
evaṃ dhammaṃ anussarato||
evaṃ Saṅghaṃ anussarato||
upekkhā kusalanissitā na saṇṭhātī’ ti.|| ||

paṭicca ākāso parivārito agāran’t’eva saṅkhaṃ gacchati,||
evam eva kho āvuso aṭṭhiñ ca||
paṭicca nahāruñ ca||
paṭicca maṃsañ ca||
paṭicca cammañ ca||
paṭicca ākāso parivārito rūpan’t’eva saṅkhaṃ gacchati.|| ||

Ajjhattikañ ce āvuso cakkhuṃ aparibhinnaṃ hoti,||
bāhirā ca rūpā na āpāthaṃ āga-c-chanti,||
no ca tajjo samannāhāro hoti,
n’eva tāva tajjassa viññāṇabhāgassa pātu-bhāvo hoti.|| ||

Ya tathā-bhūtassa saññā,||
sā saññ’ūpādāna-k-khandhe saṅgahaṃ gacchati.|| ||

Ye tathā-bhūtassa saṅkhārā,||
te saṅkhār’ūpādāna-k-khandhe saṅgahaṃ gacchanti.|| ||

Yaṃ tathā-bhūtassa viññāṇaṃ,||
taṃ viññāṇ’ūpādāna-k-khandhe saṅgahaṃ gacchati.|| ||

So evaṃ pajānāti:|| ||

‘Evaṃ kira’mesaṃ pañcannaṃ upādāna-k-khandhānaṃ saṅgaho sannipāto samavāyo hotī’ ti.|| ||

Vuttaṃ kho pan’etaṃ Bhagavatā:|| ||

‘Yo paṭicca-samuppādaṃ [191] passati||
so dhammaṃ passati.|| ||

Yo dhammaṃ passati||
so paṭicca-samuppādaṃ passatī’ ti.|| ||

Paṭicca-samuppannā kho pan’ime||
yad idaṃ pañc’upādāna-k-khandhā.|| ||

Yo imesu pañcas’upādāna-k-khandhesu chando ālayo anunayo ajjhosānaṃ,||
so dukkha-samudayo.|| ||

Yo imesu pañcas’upādāna-k-khandhesu chanda-rāga-vinayo chanda-rāga-pahānaṃ,||
so dukkha-nirodho’ ti.|| ||

Ettāvatā pi kho āvuso bhikkhuno bahu-kataṃ hoti.|| ||
